Roomies

"Nuffin's better than a friend" -Thumper from Bambi
Squad Goals

After watching and reading at least 50 different vlogs & blogs I found that the best way to find roommates was through this little thing called the internet- more specifically social media. Apparently, someone each semester creates a Facebook page *don't ask me who would want all of that responsibility & the constant notifications* but nonetheless, there was a Disney College Program Spring 2016 page. Actually there were several. I found a couple duds before I found a good one. I also found and added a couple of pages that aligned with my interest. There is a Harry Potter DCP page, for those of us that plan on getting a Universal Season Pass & being the wizards and witches that we are. And another one I added was a FSFB Page, that way I can make friends/ swap shifts with other DCPs in my same role.

After finding and liking those, one of the members commented on how there is another website called DCP Housing Roommate Finder. So the thing with the DCP roommate situation, is that all of the roommates need to have the same arrival day, and must all be over-21 or under 21 before the start of the program! With the over/under 21 there is wellness housing, meaning that no alcohol is allowed in the apartment. You can also select wellness by choice if you're over 21, but don't want the temptation. Or if you're over 21 and like your Le Fou's Brew, then you would select non-wellness. This is the one I choose. After registering for this site, you set up a profile that asks you all sorts of questions about your lifestyle & what you're looking for in roomies. You can check out my page here and see how thorough the site it. It is where I met my 3 roommates! Another option is to go directly through the Facebook page for your term and posting your roommate survey, in my opinion this is kinda hard, because on any given day there was like 60 posts. I just think that is more difficult way to find the right people to live with.

Although most of the blogs say that you and your roommates rarely see each other due to opposite schedules, I tend to air on the side of a little caution and certainty so immediately tried to find some girls I knew I would like. You have to think, you are trusting them with a lot of your belongings, and these are the first friends you will make down there! So, picking good roommates was a major priority for me! And boy- did I hit the jackpot! We are all on the same page with what we are wanting to gain from this experience, we're all Disney nerds, and I am so looking forward to spending off days in the parks or out in Orlando with them! Already in the process of planning fun things with them (look forward to some Carrie Underwood in the future.) Their names are Tara, Victoria & Amanda and I am sure you will be hearing & seeing more of them as I continue this journey. We already have a Facebook group message started & snap funny life happenings to each other. Beginning of a beautiful princess squad.

Disney College Program Acceptance

"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." -Walt Disney
Current Mood. I am elated that I have been selected to be a Disney College Program participant! I was accepted as a Full Service Food & Beverage Cast member. This is my journey through this program and I hope to capture as much magic and preserve it through this little -what's that word again, oh- blog.

The first thing most people ask me is "how did you get that!?" To which I answer, "do you want the long story or the short?" The long story begins with a 5 year old me, so I will cut ahead to today. I will say, Disney has always had a major influence on my life, so when approaching graduation it is no coincidence that I had my eye set on Disney. I had researched this program many times, and come close to applying many times, but the timing hadn't been right until this year. I graduate in December and I knew the program had start dates in early January. I went online to the Disney College Program website and went through each tab and did even more research on exactly what the Disney College Program was all about. After deciding to go for it & apply, the process was very quick (for me *I do understand that for others it took months). Here was my timeline of events:
  1. 9/9/15- I submitted my online application
  2. 9/10/15- I was asked to fill out an online two-part interview
    • this interview assess your personality and culture fit
    • you select the response that best describes yourself- key is to BE HONEST. These tests have a way to know if you are lying about your personality attributes
    • Some are multiple-choice and some ask you to rate items on a 1-to-5 scale.
  3. 9/15/15- I completed the online two-part interview
  4. 9/16/15- I received an e-mail to schedule a phone interview
    • this must be scheduled within 3 days of receiving the e-mail
    • it is easy to go online and schedule your 30 minute interview time & day
  5. 9/22/15- This was the day I scheduled for my phone interview!
  6. 9/24/15- I WAS ACCEPTED!
This is what the acceptance letter looks like, as you can see you only have 7 days to complete a couple steps and fully accept the internship.

Since receiving this e-mail I have been daydreaming non-stop about all of the amazing experiences that are coming my way! I will update this so that you all can keep track of my many magical moments!

See ya' real soon!
